Christian Horner Fired After 20 Iconic Years as Red Bull F1 Team Principal

In a shocking turn of events, Red Bull has officially parted ways with longtime Formula 1 team principal Christian Horner, ending a legendary 20-year career that saw the team rise to global dominance with 8 F1 World Championships and numerous record-breaking achievements.
The team released a brief statement on Wednesday, offering no clear reason for the decision but expressing gratitude for Horner’s decades of leadership.
“He will forever remain an important part of our team history,” the statement read.
Laurent Mekies, currently with sister team Racing Bulls, has been named as Horner’s successor and will now serve as the Chief Executive of the Red Bull F1 team.
Red Bull's star driver and three-time World Champion Max Verstappen took to social media to honor Horner’s contributions:
“From my first race win, to four world championships, we’ve shared incredible successes — thank you for everything, Christian!”
Horner, who led the team since its debut in 2005, was actively performing his duties just last week at the British Grand Prix. He became a well-known figure beyond the track, partly due to his high-profile marriage to Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice of the Spice Girls) and his central role in Netflix’s hit series "Drive to Survive" — especially his intense rivalry with Mercedes boss Toto Wolff.
The F1 world now watches closely as Red Bull prepares for a new era without the man who shaped much of its modern legacy.
